Lauren’s Yoga Story

How It All Began
Lauren’s journey into yoga wasn’t typical. She once preferred high-intensity workouts, chasing fast results. But after developing lower back pain and sciatica from her first desk job, she went from fit to barely able to walk. Searching for relief, she was willing to give anything a go and she found hot yoga.
She bought an Introductory Bikram Hot Yoga Pass, drawn in by the promise of healing for back pain. Her first session was tougher than expected, but by the end of the pass, her back pain had nearly vanished. She kept returning—not just for her back, but for her neck stiffness, migraines, eczema, and even blood sugar and blood pressure issues, and stress relief. Yoga helped her feel calm, focused, and alive.

From Student to Teacher
Curious and transformed, Lauren completed a 500-hour teacher training in Los Angeles to share this healing yoga. She’s now taught over 1,200 sessions to thousands of students.
Putting Yoga to the Test
After a major skiing injury that ruptured her ACL, MCL, and PCL, Lauren was in a knee brace on crutches for 3 months then had an ACL re-construction surgery. She had a great surgeon & physiotherapist, but it was hot yoga helped her get her knee back to full range of motion and strength. Just before this, she was also in a motor vehicle accident and experienced whiplash.
Yass Hot Yoga Is Born
Lauren met her fiancé on a chairlift at Perisher. She told him:
“If you want me to move to your farm, build me a yoga studio.” He did and Yass Hot Yoga was born.
Yoga Through Motherhood
Lauren practiced yoga throughout pregnancy and postpartum. At 10 months postpartum, she traveled to Nashville with her baby to become the first Australian certified in Yoga Shapeshifting, a style focussed on strength and conditioning, particularly for the spine. Inspired by friends in the United States that had great results with Yoga ShapeShifting, Lauren trusted that this was the missing piece in her own practise post-partum and for her Yoga School. And indeed it was. Yoga completed the healing trifecta at Yass Hot Yoga: Bikram, Yin, and Yoga Shapeshifting. These three styles combined really are magical and something else. They will transform you. Physically. Emotionally. Mentally.
