Lauren’s Yoga Story - Yoga School Owner

Lauren had tried a few yoga classes here and there, but hadn’t really connected with the practice. After starting her first office job she developed lower back pain and sciatica. She went from being fit to being constantly in pain. In a search to feel better, she tried various alternative solutions. It was the hot yoga practice that relieved her pain.

Lauren bought an Introductory Yoga Pass at a local studio where she lived in Sydney. She was surprised to find that by the end of the Introductory Pass, her lower back pain was all but gone. She did keep coming back however, because she realised how stiff her neck was, and how much more calm and focused the yoga helped her be.

After that, whenever something happened in Lauren’s life, like an injury or an emotional challenge, she’d find herself back at hot yoga. The ongoing ache in her hand from an old break that got infected after surgery, regular yoga eased that. Tension migraines that plagued her since she was a young teenager, very rarely happen now. Sweating helped clear up eczema. Previous blood sugar and low blood pressure issues seemed to clear up.

Lauren got so curious about the yoga that she did a 9 week intensive 500-hour teacher training program in LA. Doing so much yoga during the training, she’d never felt better in her life. Lauren’s since taught over 1,200 yoga sessions to thousands of students.

Lauren put the yoga to the test when she twisted her knee back to front skiing, rupturing her ACL, MCL and tearing her PCL. She was in a knee brace on crutches for 3 months then had an ACL re-construction surgery. She had a great surgeon & physiotherapist, but it was hot yoga helped her get her knee back to full range of motion and strength.

Lauren met her now fiancé on a chairlift at Perisher. She said if he wanted her to move to his farm; he’d have to build her a yoga studio & Yass Hot Yoga was born.

Lauren & Nick now have a little boy. Lauren did yoga throughout her pregnancy.
